Redevelopment Projects

Crossroads Mall Demolition (29th Street Redevelopment)
29th Street & Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder
Fiore & Sons performed multiple tasks on this project including demolition, crushing, earthwork and site utilities. This included demolition of 645,000 sf mall; site demolition and earthwork services for 40 acre site; on-site building and site material crushing; and underground utility services. 80% of the demolished building and site materials were recycled to be reused on site. The underground utility portion of work included water main, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer. Specifically, water main: 12" and 8" main with tie-ins to city main line, 6" & 8" fire lines and domestic water services; sanitary sewer: 12" & 8" main - 20' deep; storm sewer: RCP - 15", 18", 24", 30" & 36", Type R Inlets & stormceptors; and demo old water main loop, sanitary & storm sewer lines. 
Target At Longmont
551 S. Hover Street, Longmont
Demolition of the existing 96,000 sf Target store and removal of demolition debris was completed in 72 hours. Fiore & Sons' ability to demolish the structure and begin utility relocation, overlot, and finish grading at the old store site allowed Saunders Construction to deliver a new store ready for occupancy within 5 weeks of closing the existing store. Not only was the demolition phase delivered 2 days ahead of schedule but Fiore & Sons recycled over 90% of the demolition materials by weight on this project.
RTD - Elati Maintenance Facility
Elati Street & Yale Avenue, Denver
This project involved the demolition and disposal of the old General Ironworks Facility. The old facility consisted of a 275,000 sf steel frame iron fabrication plant & approximately 100,000 sf of various surrounding structures. Immediately following the completion of the demolition, 100,000 cy of non-hazardous contaminated soils (heavy metals / petroleum) were excavated, manifested and hauled to a certified landfill for disposal. Fiore & Sons worked closely with RTD's environmental and public relations representatives to maintain a clean, safe and efficient job site for employees and the surrounding community.
ENGLEWOOD CITY CENTER (FORMER CINDERELLA CITY MALL)
Sante Fe Drive & Hampden Avenue, Englewood
This fast-track design-build project involved the re-development of the 39 acre former Cinderella City Shopping Center. This negotiated contract included the following items: Demolish 105,000 sf parking structure and debris removal; Structural earthwork and fine grading for RTD transit facility; 52,000 sf fountain center and 105,000 sf new parking structure; Overexcavate and remove 18,000 cy of subsurface waste debris; Fine grade entire site for curb and gutter, sidewalks and street paving.
Tiffany Plaza Redevelopment
Alameda Avenue & Colorado Boulevard, Denver
This project consisted of several small jobs throughout the redevelopment of this shopping center. The majority of the work that Fiore & Sons provided involved building demolition and site utility services, however, general fine grading was also performed throughout the removal and renovation of demolished areas. During the demolition process only small portions of the shopping mall were released for demolition or renovation. The work was safely performed without interrupting or inconveniencing the existing tenants who remained doing business at the mall.
Target at Glendale
Alameda Avenue & Colorado Boulevard, Denver
Complete demolition of existing Target store attached to operational retail center. This was completed without disturbing the operations of the existing retail center. Our work also consisted of 548,000 sf of parking lot, islands, and concrete removal and disposal; and 190,000 sf over-excavation of the building pad 3 feet; replacing it with structural fill, compaction and finish grading to +/- .10"
Target at Buckingham
4100 South Havana Street, Aurora
This project consisted of the demolition and sitework of an existing Montgomery Wards store attached to an operational retail mall. Our work included demolition of the Montgomery Wards store; 170,000 sf over excavation of the building pad 3 feet and replacing with structural fill, compaction and finish grade to +/- .10"; and 184,000 sf of parking lot, islands, and concrete removal and disposal. Demolition for Children's Hospital
16th Avenue & Ursula Street, Fitzsimons Campus, Aurora
This project involved many components of services that Fiore & Sons, Inc. provides. This work included utilities disconnection and removals, site clearing, asbestos abatement, demolition of 16 buildings, onsite crushing, and earthwork. All aspects had to come together in a timely manner in order to maintain the aggressive construction schedule. This project also included the demolition of Building 632 which was deemed structurally unsound for safe entry. Therefore, the asbestos abatement could not be completed. A variance was applied through the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) Air Quality Control Division to perform an open air demolition with asbestos still remaining in the structure. Working closely with CDPHE and the abatement contractor, this 20,000 square foot 2-story building was safely demolished, transported and disposed of at a certified landfill. Each truck load of building debris, as well as, associated contaminated soil was double wrapped in 10 mil poly lining for safe transportation to a certified landfill.
Mobile Tool Demolition for Lowes at Westminster
5600 W, 88th Avenue, Westminster
This project consisted of the demolition and recycling of a 210,000 square foot former Mobil Tool building and associated site demolition within a very confined site. On-site recycling provided a value engineering opportunity for the owner by creating fill material to bring the site to proposed grades. Strategic staging and communication with other subcontractors was necessary to work efficiently and safely within the extremely confined site.
Ridge Home Demolition
Kipling Street & Ridge Road, Arvada
Fiore & Sons work involved the demolition of 9 buildings totaling approximately 175,000 square feet; the removal of remaining infrastructure (i.e. steam tunnels, water, sanitary lines, asphalt paving, concrete paving, electrical & gas lines) across 25+ acres at the former Ridge Home Hospital site. Fiore worked together with Environmental Sciences to carefully identify previously unknown hazardous contaminants to be handled by contractors during the demolition process.
Demolition for Martin Luther King Library
9840 E. Colfax Avenue, Denver
Fiore & Sons performed the demolition of existing buildings for a future library. Our work included: demolition of a 6-story office building, demolition of the remaining half block of retail buildings, other related sitework including utility disconnections, and assisting with the relocation of a historic restaurant diner. Demolition of Biggs at Thornton Town Center
10005 Grant Street, Thornton
This project consisted of demolishing a portion of the existing Thornton Town Center mall. This included: demolition of 334,000 sf of building performed in two phases to allow existing tenants to relocate during demolition activities. We worked closely with the general contractor and owner to provide a safe working environment for existing tenants, customers, and subcontractors. This was achieved by performing technical building separations by manual labor and construction of temporary walkways and facilities. Significant portions of the steel, non-ferrous materials, and concrete were recycled on this project.
Stapleton Parking Garage Ramp Demolition
Martin Luther King Boulevard & Quebec Street, Denver
This project consisted of removing the ramp structures attached to the former airport parking structure. Our work included: demolishing four levels of parking ramps, post-tensioned slab and beam repair, minor mechanical and electrical modifications, joint sealants, and underground utility relocation. Temporary sheeting was installed as a barrier for protection, and safety was considered a very high priority because of the continued use of the lower level of the parking structure during construction.
Target T-064 Remodel
2800 Pearl Street, Boulder
This project consisted of the makeover of an existing Target store. This project included the total renovation of the interior finish from floor to ceiling, including the removal of the storefront. Because the store was to remain in business during renovation, the precast panel storefront was removed after the completion of the new addition.
Leprino Foods Remodel & Addition
1830 W. 38th Avenue, Denver
This project consisted of dismantling the top two levels between to separation walls of a three level building. The lower level of the building remained fully operational during construction. The site was extremely confined and also situated next to a busy city street and sidewalk.
Geneva Pedestrian Bridge Removal
2555 North Midway Boulevard, Broomfield
This project included the removal of an existing pedestrian bridge at the Geneva Pharmacutical Plant. Due to the confined work between two buildings made it necessary for a flawless removal.
